this is us

And so the story goes…

After nearly five years of struggle and strife, Sean and Tessa are getting married!  Why are we doing this, you might wonder?  Good question. All jokes aside, it became clear very early in our relationship that we couldn’t imagine our lives apart…and we decided it was time to share this with our best friends and family. We figured a wedding would be an ideal event to kick off a few decades of petty bickering, honey-do lists, and shared debt obligations…along with, of course, a lifetime of happiness and adventures.  We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you — either at the wedding or wherever we next cross paths!

Our brief history…

It’s safe to say our relationship is rooted in bicycling. We met in 2006 — at the time, we were both in the same graduate program at the University of Washington, seeking any excuse to break away from the confines of that lovable icon of brutalist architecture, Gould Hall — the place where we spent many sleepless hours working on endless class projects. Tessa recalls the day when Sean came downstairs to the Gould Hall dungeon (aka the computer lab) to find, and officially meet, her for the first time. She was fighting off sleep on a lounge couch and apparently too groggy to recognize love at first sight – unlike Sean of course. We headed out on our first bike ride together, toward a destination that soon became a familiar ride, the Red Hook Brewery.  And so began a friendship based on a firm foundation of biking and good beer. Over the next couple years, we came to know each other and discover that we actually had a few more things in common — a love of the outdoors, traveling, cooking, skiing, backpacking, triathlons and good coffee.  Tessa would love to say dogs, but Sean’s (mostly) a cat person…

After a long period of “just friends,” we decided to officially change our Facebook status to “in a relationship” in 2009.  Sean muddled around for another three years before he finally got his act together and proposed in late 2011 under the moonlight on a snowy ridge in the Methow Valley (yes, how sweet). Which leads us of course to where we are now…building one great wedding website – all in the name of helping you celebrate with us!
